Main idea: Describes
the meaning of the article in very general terms. The main idea needs to be
explained by general details and proven by specific examples. In addition, the
main idea includes that topic of the article as well as some opinion about the
article that you will explain. Mention the name of the article (title) and the
author’s name when possible.
Main idea:

explanation: These sentences are used to explain why/how your main idea
is true. Like all summary details, it should only be about information in the
article. This explanation should tell
the general meaning of the specific example you will use.

example: These details use
facts or statistics from the article to prove that the general explanation is
true. Specific examples should also
prove that your main idea is true.
