Your questions answered
How is my pay adjustment calculated?
We will compare your historical weekly DoorDash earnings in 2022 and 2023 to your guaranteed minimum earnings calculated using the new 2022 rate ($0.32/mile) and 2023 rate ($0.34/mile).
If the amount of DoorDash pay you received is equal to or greater than your guaranteed minimum earnings calculated using the new mileage rates, you will not receive a pay adjustment. If the amount of DoorDash pay you received is less than than the guaranteed minimum earnings using the new mileage rates, you will receive a pay adjustment for the difference.
For example, take a Dasher who earned $100 for a week in January 2023. Under the previous mileage rate of $0.30, their minimum guaranteed earnings for the week was $100, and no pay adjustment was provided at the time since Dasher earnings met or exceeded the minimum amount. However, if we apply the new mileage rate of $0.34, their minimum guaranteed earnings amount is now $101 for that same week. We would issue this Dasher a pay adjustment of $1 ($101 - $100 = $1) for that week.
Why am I just now receiving pay for past deliveries?
The California State Treasurer's Office is responsible for calculating and publishing annual mileage rates for app-based delivery and rideshare platforms to use for guaranteed earnings. Despite DoorDash’s requests for updated mileage rates from the Treasurer’s Office since January 2022, the updated rates for 2022 and 2023 were just published by the Office on May 10, 2023.
When is the new pay rate effective?
We implemented the 2023 mileage rate on May 16, 2023, and are calculating required pay adjustments for deliveries performed before this date.
